The International Police Summit was held in Seoul from 21 -24 October 2019. The Fiji Delegation was headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Rusiate Tudravu and the Director Corporate Services, Mr. Juki Chew.The Fiji delegation which also included Madam Ambassador and First Secretary had a bilateral meeting with the Korean National Police Agency which was headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Korean National Police Agency on 22 October. The meeting addressed ten (10) bilateral issues including opportunities in the areas of drugs verification process, cyber-crime technologies with Korean National Police Agency Cyber Bureau, Forensic field accounting, procurement of technical equipment from the Korean Police Security System, capacity building and training in key areas with institutions of the KNPA such as the Korea National Police University), IT system, provision of drone equipment for major events and raids in highlands, cooperation with the Fiji Police Band.The meeting agreed that the two institute to draw up a draft MOU to cover joint – cooperation in these key areas. The Mission has been asked to follow this up with the International cooperation division of the Korean National Police Agency and provide advice to the Fiji Police Force. The Mission has since had a follow up meeting with representatives from the Korean National Police Agency later in the month and the Mission is hoping to receive the draft document before the end of November.
