Fiji Embassy Seoul attended the 2017 Seoul Friendship Fair which was held at Seoul Square from 2 – 3 September 2017. The event is organized annually by the Seoul Metropolitan City to highlight and celebrate multiculturalism and allow the expat community to interact and exchange local Korean people. The event marks its 21st anniversary this year.
The Embassy set up a booth in the cultural pavilion at the fair to promote Fijian made products, and disseminated tourism promotion materials, including brochures, maps and books. The Fijian booth attracted approximately four-hundred (400) Korean and foreign visitors over the course of the weekend. Many showed great interest in learning about the Fiji’s heritage and culture through the display of traditional clothing or masi, artifacts and Fijian made products.
The Fijian presence particularly stood out among other sixty (60) participating embassies not only for its unique booth design and presentation but also because it was the single representative from the Pacific Island region.
